Judi Nath, Ph.D., is a biology professor at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio, teaching primarily anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, and medical terminology. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Bowling Green State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Toledo. As part of her undergraduate eduction, she also spent her senior year abroad studying at the University of Salzburg in Austria.
Dr. Nath is devoted to her students and strives to convey the intricacies of science in captivating ways that are meaningful, interactive, and exciting. She has won the Lourdes University Faculty Excellence Award – an accolade recognizing effective teaching, scholarship, and community service – multiple times. Dr. Nath has also served as Biology Department Chair. She is active in several professional organizations, notably the Human Anatomy & Physiology Society (HAPS), where she has served several terms on the board of directors. Dr. Nath also holds professional memberships in the American Association of Anatomists (AAA), the Society for College Science Teaching, and the National Science Teachers Association.
She is the sole author of Using Medical Terminology (published by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins), the first book to use a “foreign language and total immersion” approach to teaching medical terminology within the context of applied anatomy and physiology.
She is also the co-author of Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology, Visual Anatomy & Physiology, Visual Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology, and Anatomy & Physiology (all published by Pearson).
Since grade school, Dr. Nath has been interested in science and writing. In fact, in 5th grade, she wrote 2 "books": Health Booklet and Human Body Organs. Her passions truly are researching, writing, and teaching.
On a personal note, Dr. Nath thoroughly enjoys family life with her husband, Mike, and their dogs, Gabbi and Quincy. Piano playing and bicycling are welcome diversions from authoring and her favorite charities include the local Humane Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the ALS Association.
